Lightning strike very close to our house - within 1/3 mile. The neighbors were out watching and you can hear their reaction. Recorded with sony pcm-m10 internal mics, sitting on porch roof. No editing other than fade-out.

The machine in question is a fisher & paykel quicksmart 5. 5kg (mw513) running on 240v 50hz power. This machine utilises a "direct drive" bldc motor instead of the traditional induction motor and pulley.

The mic used was the built-in mic configuration on the unit positioned on a mini tripod 8 inches above the sand.

Edited a default preset in bk-synthlab's free "vs-1 oscilloscope" synth and hooked it up with a free midi sequencer vst (hyperion) and placed thrillseekervbl on the master. This was done using headphones back then so the sound may not be optimal on some playback devices.
