My first recorded sound! it's actually just 6 secs long. I was on a vacation yesterday to a cottage resort, but it was a really rainy day. I decided to take out my $300 samsung to record a bit of the rain. I had the quality at 22khz, so the quality kinda sucks but it's still ok. I also have 2 more sounds (i couldn't record any more because my mic on the tablet broke and it only picks up static).

This is a 4 mic recording taken inside a pachinko parlor in akasaka, tokyo. There are so many loud machines and the background music is so loud that you can hardly make out individual sounds and the entire space is just a wash of noise. If you listen closely to this one you can hear some of the individual balls dropping. (when you play pachinko, you win metal balls which can be exchanged for cash later. ).

Field recording of times square in new york city recorded at 6 am on a saturday morning. The recorder is situated in the center of times square, some cars (mostly taxis) are underway, some (very few) people as well, cleaners and a team of subway construction workers are on the scene. Recording was conducted in march 2012 with a zoom h2, mics set to 90° dispersion.

Deep and dark sci-fi background noise that could fit a movie space ship, e. G. In the warp drive chamber. The actual sound source is a gas stove that has been recorded using a fostex fr2 recorder and a pair of røde nt5 mics in x/y positioning. A busy sunny summer sunday morning in bellefonte, pennsylvania, us. On this recording you will hear cicadas, traffic on the street at the bottom of the hill, brief voices and a following chorus of barking dogs, police and fire sirens, and church bells. Recorded using a lavalier mic and the hi-q app on an android phone. Gain set to +. 05.

On deck aboard a baltic sea car ferry bound from rostock/germany to trelleborg/sweden. It is late evening, and the ferry is cruising clear of the harbor into the open sea. The recording features the ambient noise on deck, mainly the drone of the ship and it's diesels, some sea in the background, and the occasional door opening and closing. Recorded with a zoom h2n. A sound of an umbrella handle expanding and retracting, making clicking sounds. Great for foley and sound design. Recorded with a tascam tm-80 in a non sound proofed room, without an anti-pop filter. The umbrella was fairly close from the mic during recording. The post-processing was minor, just an eq to cut out some of the superfluous low frequencies. You can mention me if you like to, or give a link to the project containing this sound, but that's totally up to you.

A dell dimension l600r being booted up and turned off. This will work nicely for those needing genuine sounds from an old computer. The mic was placed directly inside the computer's chassis with the side door closed. No noise-removal has been applied on this recording. Most of the sound in this recording comes from the maxtor hard drive, as well as the 3. 5 floppy drive, cpu fan, and psu fan. Also includes a post beep.

I recorded people blowing up fireworks in my neighborhood last night with a zoom 6 using the stereo mics. Then i isolated individual sounds and tweaked the eq some in adobe audition, then ran those sounds back-to-back to make these "machine gun" sounds. Let me know what you think? (i might try making some more versions of these).

A stereo field recording of hundreds of several species of frogs at spring in raleigh, nc. Recorded at a very large concrete stormwater retention pond. The tall concrete walls made a nice effect acoustically. There are a few other faint sounds such as my dog walking around, a bit of wind and a car door as the pond was next to a parking garage. But, the frogs definitely dominate. I recorded this with an olympus ls-11.

I layered three different snare drum takes to achieve this one. All three of those takes are from a ludwig black beauty. I did a close, stereo overhead, and stereo room mic configuration. We are back in germany and its raining again! i opened the window an little bit and recorded with my roland binaural mics the rain and raindrops that are falling from the window! you can clearly hear the drops but sometimes you have a little wind noise. Recorded with roand binaural microphones and zoom h1 in 96/24.

Bats recorded along the lagan river near belfast in september 2019. This recording was originally made at 192 khz but the registered sample rate has been changed to 16 khz in order to make their ultrasonic calls audible in playback. In this excerpt you can hear social calls (the trills), soprano pipistrelle echolocation (the higher pitched chirps) and common pipistrelle echolocation (the lower pitched chirps). Recorded on a sony pcm d100 using knowles ultrasonic mics. Noise reduction has been applied.

Recorded around midnight in mount saint francis woods in southern indiana on the kentucky border on a dr70r with shotgun mic. Not loopable as the wind picks up over time and is noticeable when you loop back to beginning. Light editing in reaper (eq down some wind sounds, splicing out distant traffic). Individual bullfrog chatter sounds also on profile.

A recording of a manual typewriter. The author is inserting paper, typing a paragraph, and then removing the paper. Sound of paper being inserted into the typewriter using the paper platen winder. Then the sound of typing of about 50 words. A small bell sound is heard at the end of each line, then the sound of the platen being pushed back to start the next line, and the platen moving the paper up one line. The sample ends with the sound of the paper being wound through the typewriter and removed. I have tried to avoid clipping of each typed letter. There is a lot of percussive multi pitch sound in each typed letter. There is a mechanical escapement that provides a clicking sound as the platen is moved back for the next line. This sample was recorded direct to the hard drive of this samsung nc10 netbook using audacity set to 44. 1khz and 16 bit in mono. A dynamic microphone was used on a small desk stand about 1 foot (30cm) from the typewriter, the stand being on a different table to the one on which the typewriter was used. The microphone was a fairly cheap make (hitachi hmp606) and was pre-amplified using a maycom mictube preamplifier built into the xlr connector, connected to the mic in port of the samsung nc10 netbook. The mic boost was reduced to zero, and the gain of the maycom preamp was at its lowest setting.

Thunderstorm recorded in essex, uk. Not far from an estuary so there are wading birds escaping the storm overhead. I have edited together the best bits of the storm with a fluctuation of rain intensity and frequent thunder rolls. Recorded with a zoom h6 msh-6 stereo mic.

Wild parrots started flying in and landing on the trees along mission bay in san diego on a cool, cloudy day. I walk around and catch some individuals and groups. Sometimes they fly overhead. I did my best to minimize footstep sounds and wind noise. Mostly, i did a good job of that. No. 2 at about 2:35 there's a nice group after a long silence, so don't quit beforehand. The stereo mics add to the liveliness of the sounds.

Sound from near my flat (great barr birmingham uk) at around 4am. There are various bird sounds within this file aswell as being able to hear the m6 motorway in the distance (i did try to accent this by pointing the mic in different directions). There are some excellent ocean recordings on freesound if you're looking for a more traditional ocean sound, but my intent with these clips was to try to capture some natural phase-shifting by placing the h4 in cracks and crevices for a more hollow, "closed-in" sound.

This is a large shed housing a hundred goats owned by a local cheese producer. It's an autochthonous goat breed called 'cabra palmera' (goat from la palma island). Listen to their bells. In the background are the sounds of a peaceful european city in summer, with little traffic in the immediate vicinity. This is version 2 of an atmos recording of a busy beach during the summer. In this version i have my back to the sea so it picks up more of the goings on on the beach itself. Recorded on a tascam dr-40 using internal stereo mic. See version 1 for atmos recording where i am facing the sea.

I drove my car into a wall; and recorded the proximity alert from it. I then washed it through audacity; slowed it 23%; and trimmed the edges. The result? -chilling. A few indistinct gulps cool the atmosphere a little more. It's not the making of a corpse - but it sounds a bit like it?. Recorded late at night in my car by my home with the engine off in fog - so the sound is 'hollowed' by the atmosphere. Recorded using a sennheiser mke300 'shotgun' mic. My childhood piano, an old german upright. Recorded using a studio projects b3 condenser mic through a presonus tubepre into an akai mpc1000. Mic'd from the top with the lid up, closer to the bass end. The piano is old and slightly out of tune, with a crack in the soundboard. The only processing was with analogx autotune to tune the samples, which did a very good job. Sampled 3 notes per octave so each sample only needs to be tuned + or - a semitone to span the whole range. It is a dark and moody sounding, a lot of character but in now way "pristine".

It's recording of a passenger train's on duty. You can hear the train's motors, the wheels rumbling against the rails, the wagon connectors hitting each other, when the train stops also people chatting. Near the end of the recording the room acoustics change, because a woman entered the area between wagons where i was standing with my recorded pointed down. I was standing in a narrow passage, where two wagons were joined, between two closed slide-doors. She have opened those so the overall sound has radically changed and i decided to end the recording. Through the entire recording the unit is moving forward, decelerating, stopping, staring and accelerating again repeatedly as it travels stopping at several stations. The recording was done with a hand-held zoom h2. Rear mics used pointed to the ground. I was in the loudest area in the whole train. I was using "low" gain (h2 has three mic gain levels to choose from: l/m/h). Viewed and converted to flac using audacity, the file hasn't been altered in any other way. Originally recorded as a 96khz/24-bit stereo wav file.

An attempt to fill a request for the sound of rummaging through a wooden chest (trunk) filled with wooden toys. . . This features various latch/locks being used for opening/closing. Tokyo outdoor night ambience. This is a recording of the shinagawa area of tokyo after 1:00 am. Crickets can be heard chirping in the distance, as can cars on a usually busy road. The trainstation is closed, but there is still some activity that can be heard as well as wind and other night ambient sounds. Recording was made on the 6th floor of a highrise apartment behind shinagawa station. 2 mics placed at a 120 degree angle were used. No filtering was used. The only editing done was removal of the beginning and end of this clip.

4ch field recording of an underpass below a german motorway, the a38 by leipzig. The recorder is located directly beneath an expansion joint on the edge of the underpass, the clonks and clanks of cars and trucks driving over the joint can clearly be heard, with the motorway noise reverberating in the underpass in the background. I left the recorder locked and unattended in the car whilst we went and did a bit of shopping. It was raining, breezy and the car was parked under a tree in a busy city centre car park next to a main road. Just some recording of a dried, brittle chili pepper with little seeds inside - up way way close to the mic (a zoom h2n). Some suggested sound design use cases: run this through granular fx for a nice drone texture. Use as an impulse response for a convolution reverb (then run tones through the convolution). Use as a trigger in vcv rack, allowing it's peaks to fire off samples or synth pulses. Or just use it plain within your next experimental acousmatic piece hit single.

Recorded outside of car so would work best for driving follow shots, drive by's, or car entering/leaving a scene.
