A nice ambient recording made on sunday morning may 5th 2013 around 6:30 in the morning in the shawnee national forest in deep southern illinois. I had originally wanted to get good, clear recordings of the tremendous numbers of warblers that are here, but a good, soaking steady light rain decided to stick around. I though, what the heck, that is a part of our natural world also, so let's get it all "on tape". . . . Hope you enjoy this. Recording made with my handy zoom h4n recording utilizing its built-in microphones. To keep as much water off of my h4n as possible, i put one of my big, furry, knitted insulated sock-cap over the recorder, that at least kept my recorder from swimming in water.

Recording of the tires of a flat bed trailer going over a gravel path. This was from a hayride where i was sitting in the back with a bunch of kids being pulled by the tractor. Recorder was just a couple of feet from the wheel so most of the kids noises and even the tractor engine get drowned out, but still somewhat audible in spots. There are two recordings, one taken from the side with the mic at the wheel and one with the mic under the trailer while recording. (this is the one with the recorder off to the side. ). The sound could also (maybe) be used to mimic a hailstorm. Recorded with a sony icd-px312.

Recording of a noisy study room in a student residence. Guys speaking and laughing, noises of the surrounding ambient like people walking, opening/closing doors, going upstairs/downstairs on a iron staircase. Recorded with a zoom h4n recorder positioned some metres from the main sound source (guys who are studying). The recording was done with the authorization of present people.

This sound was recorded in a forested area called lot 2, a low lying floodplain in the town of coffs harbour. It might be bulldozed to make land room for houses. In case it does go, this sound was captured so a part of it might still exist. Recorded on a zoom h4n pro, edited and looped in audacity. Recorded on 30/04/19.

This is a test recording of my brand new rode shotgun microphone. I connected it to my sony recorder and did this recording. It sounds amazing for being the price that it was. This microphone was originally designed to be used with cameras, but i am using it as a handheld microphone. Hope you enjoy. Test recording using pair of nt55 omni mics mounted end to end (using modified female-to-female xlr coupler) in a blimp. Recording on quiet but breezy day in norfolk village garden: sounds of birds etc. And, towards the end, a car going past. Recorded via sound devices mixpre-d and tascam dr70d. No processing except normalising.

The sound recorded by the high-way. A police car runs very fast with the siren on. Recorded with korg mr-1 and two at3032s. Before this recording session, i lost a sponge head of one 3032, so i took off another one. It was like walking on the moon without space suit.
