This was a recording taken on a small train riding around the louisville zoo in kentucky, usa. I took this towards the end of the tour, and was on the back of the train so you can hear the announcer quite clearly directing us. Sorry if there’s some talking in the background, i was siting next to my aunt’s little foster child at the time and he was enjoying himself quite a bit. Sampled into ableton with just a touch of reverb to help the trail smooth out, compression using psp compressor2 and psp warmer. Random parameters in massive, and very little other effects used. This wood thrush was recorded around 7:30 in the morning in heavy woods in deep southern illinois. Unlike my earlier posting of the wood thrush singing at dusk, this morning recording has the wood thrush singing with lots of company, although he clearly rises above his neighbors. 17 seconds into the recording you hear the drumming of a woodpecker, and at one-minute 20 seconds into the recording you hear the distinctive-lonely sounding call of the huge pileated woodpecker. Recording made with good-quality stereo microphones so use headphones to get a wonderful experience.

One of the earliest surviving recordings of music; was played at the press conference that introduced the phonograph to London on August 14 1888. Cuts off slightly before the ending of the song. The recorded version is somewhat abridged (a middle section has been cut, possibly due to time constraints). Overall a well-preserved example of wax cylinder recording technology. Length: 2:07

Got a group of about 8 people to say "hey!" a few times. Layered all the takes, compressed, and added a touch of reverb. I've used this one a bunch in my own songs. Sometimes, to achieve a convincing gang vocal effect, when i don't have a gang, you can sing your line a few times, and then layer this "hey" under each syllable, and you can get a pseudo-gang vocal. Works in a pinch if your mix is dense enough. I'd love if you'd credit joshua scott or rjc studios if you use this sample, but don't sweat it if you don't. Good artists borrow, great artists steal.

This is a short, dissonant loop made with a neapolitan mandolin. This has been recorded with an sm7b into a rme interface, and quantized to 148bpm in logic pro x. This is a dry file with no other processing. I used it on a couple of old-school hip-hop beats to trigger effects or completely butchering with distortion for some extra textures. I thought it might come in handy to rap producers out there! if you do something with it, i would love to check it out!. I was recording an acoustic version of a song called "closer" by my band dead rituals, and a friend let me borrow this old neapolitan mandolin. I made some random noises by picking behind the strings at the end of a take, and i decided to sample it!.

A soft and subtle, unedited sound recording from my studio in leeds. On the top floor of my terraced house, i have a large window that opens out onto a quiet street in north leeds. A school is nearby, so there are some elements of children screaming, but overall you get a nice wash of bird song, quiet car sounds and mild wind. This recording would be excellent for atmospheric sound for film, tv or whatever else. Feel free to use this sample and contact me if you want some extended recordings as i'm planning on recording a few more field studies from my area, which is lovely and removed from the main city.

Ungdoms synden (translates to: the sin of adolescence) is a traditional swedish melody (style: polska) from boda in dalarna sweden. The melody is compsed by röjås jonas, aledgely played to him in his old age, by a fellow fiddler. "who has made that song?" jonas asked. "you did - many years ago" the player replied "that must have been my sin of adolescense" the composer replied. This is just the first phrase of the melody recorded by me. The boda polska rythm is based in 3/4, but somewhat unevenly spaced. Every village in the neighboorhood have their distinct muiscal dialect, in the way of how to play a polska. The boda musical dialect is reputaded throughout scandinavia. Recorded with zoom h4 in my living room copenhagen.

Incorrect rendered and untreated noisy stereo loop, unintentionally done with an amiga emulator (uae for windows). Extremely dirty and distorted sound. The unrecognizable source was the title song of "speedball 2: brutal deluxe" (developed by "the bitmap brothers", music by "nation 12"). The error was was most likely either caused by wrong sound emulation settings or buffer underruns. Left channel is mostly white noise, while the right one is more like a hard industrial beat. Random presets, and very little other effects used, mostly so this sample can be re-sampled. 110 bpm so it can be pitched up which is usually better then having to pitch samples down. This is my attempt to emulate the sound of the harmony 64 chimes that can be heard on some ice cream trucks. I used a single note from a low-quality recording from a demo of the chimes for the base synth then cleaned up the audio using audacity and set the starting pitch to "c". The cicadas crawl out of the ground, shed their skins, and climb up into the trees. One cicada makes a loud and distinctive sound, but a whole group of them creates a dull roar. This recording was made on the cemetery ridge trail at clear creek metro park in rockbridge, ohio. I was standing some distance from the cicada sounds, trying to capture the pervasive roar from a distance. Sound recorded using the built-in mic on an iphone 5.

Acid bass: 110 bpm c2 note, not your typical saw/square basslines. High sweeping filters in parallel with lfo routed to certin parts sampled in ableton using massive, compression using psp compressor2 and psp warmer. Random presets, and very little other effects used, mostly so this sample can be re-sampled. 110 bpm so it can be pitched up which is usually better then having to pitch samples down.
