These recordings were made at the annual "tag der sachsen" (saxony fair) in freiberg. Recordings were done on the main market square (obermarkt), where a local radio station had set up a large stage for concerts and other events. Recording was done with a zoom h2, mics at 90° dispersion. This is the early morning after the event, at about 7. 30, stage hands are taking down the rigging, workers are clearing away trash and loading trucks. During the recording, someone starts working with a leaf blower.

Lots of bangs, bongs, clangs and you-name-it-whats. Yesternight our theatrical trouppe had been disassembling the set; main part of it is a huge, multi-ton construction consisting of several dozens (or hundreds?) steel tubes - it looks like erecting scaffolding, but much more steady. Disassembling it is a chore even if you have 25+ people around. I have recorded the later stage: clanging tubes are dragged to the hoister in order to be brought down to the ground level and loaded into a truck. Speech is cut off (hopefully all of it). Rode nt4 mic with a rycote wind muff on (slight attenuation of the higher frequencies is noticeable to my ears) sitting on a chair under an awning on my porch. I hit record slightly too late to catch the first couple of bell rings, but got most of it. First we hear the church signal 8pm, then we hear the courthouse do the same thing. Also some wind in the trees right above the mic, some rain, a bit of thunder, and some cars in a small town. This is my first upload: a short walk between the stalls of the vismarkt in groningen, netherlands. Is was a splendid and sunny saturday morning, about 9. 30 am, may 7th 2016. In the first part of the recording, a garbage truck is already cleaning up. Fish crates are being piled up and money is exchanging hands. As the name of the market square suggests, the stalls are filled with fresh north sea and wadden sea fish. But i also passed stalls where cheese, meat and spices were sold. Business was thriving at the time of the recording. The groningen vismarkt is broadly recognized as one of the finest food markets in the country. I used an iphone with a zoom iq5. As said, this is my first recording, so please bear with me. . . I intend to learn.

Plane- it’s difficult to get good recordings of planes taking off these days. There’s always major streets or highways close by which results in a bunch of unwanted traffic noise. It’s difficult to find a good vantage point to set up because there’s hardly any public parking with unobstructed sight lines (or in my case hearing lines) to the planes. Plus, with all the extra security measures in place these days, how suspicious would i look setting up a laptop andsome cables and some other electronic equipment in the general area of the runway?but i managed to get this recording. It’s not spectacular, but it’s ok. There’s some worker truck at the end of it which gets in the way, but doesn’t ruin it. I'm at the corner of 5th and kansas not far from kair 93. 7fm studios. This sound starts with the band from part1 departing and a truck passing. Children talk and yell and a man yells something. Another band approaches. A woman seems to tell someone to say cheese in the distance. The file ends when the band gets a bit too loud for my microphone. Recorded with goldwave with an asus laptop in my backpack and a microsoft lifecam3000 poking out of it facing behind me clothes-pinned to one of the handles of the pack. Unfortunately microsoft no longer supports their lifecam apps so it's not possible to turn down the internal mic gain.

The soft peeps of the few remining birds, grubbing around for protein-packed insects is the soundtrack. At 5 minutes into this recording a delightful, friendly exchange between two birds as if they are saying "hey, let's help each other find food before this field is blanketed with snow at cold. ". At 7:05 in this recording a truck slowly drives by, softly crunching gravel and the driver slows down to witness this annual, melancholy autumnal change. This is my first recording using my binaural mic. I took a walk to meet my wife for lunch and decided to record it. It was windy outside, and even with the standard foam wind protection, you can still hear some wind rumble. It might be fixed using some low cut filtering but i wanted to post it as is. This take started inside my recording studio and ended in a fairly large avenue with lots of traffic (cars and motorcycles). There is a pause on the recording by 01:59, when i had to change the mic cable position. I videoed this sound of a subway train in glasgow scotland on the famous "clockwork orange" train as they are called.
